A Celebration of Love and Family –
Some celebrations leave a lasting imprint on your heart—and Samad and Ayesha’s engagement was one of them. This wasn’t a wedding, but rather a joyful Pakistani engagement ceremony, where two loving families came together to celebrate the beginning of something beautiful.
While the engagement itself was held indoors, we stepped away for a bit to create something truly magical—couple portraits at the Rose Garden in Schenectady, one of the Capital Region’s most stunning spots in summer. Between the laughter of family indoors and the blooming roses outdoors, this day had all the warmth, beauty, and heart that makes storytelling through photography so special.
Capturing Connection Before “I Do” –
What I loved most about this engagement was the energy. Both families showed up with genuine excitement, dancing, joking, sharing stories, and embracing the joy of this special moment. There’s something truly unique about engagement ceremonies in South Asian culture—an energy that blends tradition, celebration, and a touch of future anticipation.
Samad and Ayesha were glowing the entire time. It was easy to see how comfortable they were with each other, and how much love surrounded them.
Portraits in the Garden: Where Romance Meets Nature
After the ceremony, we made our way to the Rose Garden in Schenectady, which was bursting with vibrant blooms. This public garden is one of the hidden gems of the Capital Region—especially in the summer when rows of roses in every color bloom in harmony.
The portraits we captured here were some of my favorites—playful, soft, and deeply romantic. The natural setting allowed Samad and Ayesha to just be themselves—walking hand in hand, sharing quiet laughter, and soaking in this pre-wedding milestone.
There’s something magical about photographing couples among flowers. The garden gave us privacy, light, and mood—and the love between them brought everything to life.
Why the Rose Garden is a Photographer’s Dream
If you’re in Upstate New York and looking for a location that feels like a scene from a fairytale, the Rose Garden in Schenectady is a must. With its stone pathways, blooming arches, and rows of colorful roses, it’s perfect for romantic portraits, engagements, and even small weddings.
Whether you’re planning a formal ceremony or just want to document your love story before the big day, this spot offers natural elegance and timeless charm.
Grateful for Stories Like These
As a wedding and engagement photographer, being invited into intimate family moments is something I never take for granted. Samad and Ayesha have trusted me with their story before, and to be part of this new chapter was a true honor.
I walked away from this day feeling fulfilled—not just because of the images, but because of the connection, joy, and cultural richness that I had the privilege of witnessing and capturing.
